This week we had the great pleasure of having David Malouf himself come to talk to the first year students about the novel. It was very insightful and helped me take a deeper meaning into the book.

Malouf's approach and style to writing is pretty unique as well as unconventional to other writers.

This week we got stuck into the themes and style of the novel, The Conversations at Curlow Creek.
David Malouf uses all the techniques of poetry, poetic language and fiction poetic prose to capture the attention of the reader. Everyone misses his intentions at the start which makes it more intense and frustrating for the reader to grasp what is ( Read more... )

DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA! NOTHING BUT DRAMA!

Our group did an awesome job in putting together and acting out the last scenes of 'Coralie Says No'
The enthusiasm came out really strongly and everyone did a great job in presenting it, even though a couple of us were not acting.

This week we studied more of Judith's Wrights poetry.
The poem we looked greatly into during the tutorial was "Two Dreamtimes."

I was so interested in this poem because it was quite ground-breaking of Wright's feelings and intentions.

I sincerely apologise for my lack of Live Journal Entries in the past few weeks.

And I know there is no excuse for this.

Although, during week 7 of Literature when we studied Judith Wright, I was moving into my new home, which is a "Haven on the Harbour."

The poems read and discussed in the lecture and tutorial inspired me to write a poem.

It's all about personal experience.

But it reminds me of Christopher Brennan's sonnet "Fire in the heavens, and fire along the Hills."
It's symbolic of the heat of the Australian Summer and it reminded me of how I spend mine and i'm sure many of you...do too. Summer ( Read more... )
