In Which We Learn A Hard Lesson

As I sit in front of the computer creating yet another specialized resume for the latest round of job-hunting, I find my mind wandering away from the task at hand. "I'm not really procrastinating," I mutter. I know that the turn my thoughts have taken doesn't lend itself to what I'm supposed to be working on. Thanks. I agree. The days of retirement are all but gone. Only a very few people that I know are even entertaining the notion of retirement - and they're most of my mother's generation and older.

My husband has a degree and is currently unemployed, having been laid off nearly two years ago. It's murder for him to find a job because of his degree these days. He keeps being told he's "overqualified" and they're "afraid he'd be bored". *sigh*

Oh man this is so true. It makes me sad because I feel like even with my best intentions I'll be setting my kids up to fail because by the time they are my age the rules will have changed again.

Exactly. If things have changed this much in the last 50 years, what do I teach my son about how to get along in the world in the next 15?
