The Thumper rule or the lack of constructive criticism in fan fiction

There is a distinct lack of constructive criticism in fan fiction. I've read enough complaints recently to know I'm not the only who has noticed this.

The problem is that most people who are capable of intelligently dissecting a story are not willing or able to hurt feelings.

and then... )

fan fiction, honesty, the thumper rule, constructive criticism

Actually, I just wanted to say that your kitten icon is absolutely adorable!!!! Is that your kitten? What's his/her name? How hold was he/she when the picture was taken? Yes, I'm a cat lover!!! They've owned me since I was about eight years old! Yours is just so precious -- if only they would stay that way forever, some of them, anyway!!!!!

Sorry for the delay in response. I haven't been checking in as often as I should.

Unfortunately the kitty is not mine. I loved the picture so much I swiped in from my sister. Fortunately kitten picture swiping is not considered a justifiable reason for homicide, or I would be toasted. She was not happy with me.
