Depression

My office laid off 33 people yesterday and we've been told that until the end of the fiscal year we should expect further cutbacks and consolidation. In fact, the organization wants to cut spending by 50%. I guess I'm lucky to still be here, what with my lack of marketable skills. God, that sounds awful. We just got a letter from the president here at Penn telling us to cut back, stop hiring and to get rid of temporary employees. Which, you know, guess what I am!

I hope that it works out for you. Let me know if you want me to take a look at your resume or something.

I think I'm best qualified for teaching the class I already am teaching. I just want them to find some more work for me and make me a full professor.

My company is talking cut backs.

I say tell your co-workers to get off their asses and get back to work. Otherwise their inefficient work ethic might get reported.

I say take a 3 martini lunch. I do that every Holiday when people get fired. It happens at this company for the past 6 years I have been here. I never took management positions because they are the first to go. The designers just get absorbed into other divisions.

I think they are keeping busy, but only on little personal projects. Suddenly I only have plans for training sessions etc., that need input from others.

I think Dave's been receptive to my plans. It's just that I can't show him any progress until I get some participation.
