SO LATE, SORRY. D:dogsnwurstOctober 3 2010, 02:17:55 UTC
. . . Corn dollies. [Right. English is SO much stranger than German. Ludwig just keeps repeating this in his head to make himself feel better for not knowing what Arthur is talking about]
[Would usually strop about Teagan using his stuff instead of getting her own, but other than her and mum nobody else knows how to make them and there's still a lot to be done.]
A bit late to tag, but...grumpytaliaOctober 1 2010, 23:30:24 UTC
[Watches him while sitting under a nearby tree, and is impressed by the craftsmanship so far. In fact, he's a little interested in making one himself, but he doesn't really want to go up to Arthur and ask for some of the material he already has. Feliciano doesn't really feel up to gathering some of the material himself at this time.
The teen eyes the pile surrounding Arthur and wonders if he could swipe some of the sticks and sheaves without anyone noticing.
Not like it'd be a huge crime if he took some, right?]
[Arthur is far too concentrated on making his little trinkets to notice the Italian staring over, instead he's just calmly going about making one after the other, completely engrossed in his work. It's not so much a high level of craftsmanship as it is experience, he's been making these things every autumn for as long as he can remember.]

I'm making corn dollies, it's about to turn to winter and they'll keep bad spirits out.
[Says this like it's the most normal thing in the world.]

Is that... something to be eaten?
Reply
No, you don't eat them.
[Picks one of the corn dollies up, holding it by the loop.]
You nail them to a doorframe and they'll keep the bad spirits out during winter.

Hm?
-Looks up at Matthew, setting a finished corn dolly to the side-
Is something the matter?

I don't think I've got enough wicker.

Oh good.
Now we just need to find somewhere to make a bonfire without getting kicked out.

[He did not follow him here, really!]
Artie? What are those things for?

My name is Arthur, not Artie.
And if you must know they're to keep bad spirits away during the winter.

How does that (whatever it is) keep away spirits?

[Blinks and looks down at his newest corn dolly.]
I'm not too sure, but they certainly work.
For the most part.
