To Gackt's Dears...

Jun 27, 2005 22:26

It has come to my understanding that a recent Gackt diary entry which was translated has pulled up some big debate or otherwise. I, myself, have not read the full length of the translation for the reason that when I skimmed it, it didn't seem to pull off Gackt's tone very well, nor did it have any footnotes indicating certain nuances of ( Read more... )

I ma glad that you posted this. I wasnt sure about the post myself. I was even more suspect when I realized that the entry hadnt been posted on Muse or any other sources that I am familiar with. Besides, when is he ever that long winded? I'm not saying that it isnt authentic but it just didnt feel right.

As for you my dear, those of us that really appreciate what you do for our community will have no problem waiting for life to catch up to you. Translations can always wait. People might start to ownder about you if you put your translations before your private issues. lol j/k. Take care of yourself. We will still be here.

I'm not saying that the translation isn't authentic; I am sure it is. I just want everyone to be able to know that when Gackt writes something, he puts certain tones in, which I did not get a sense of when I read the translation. Some things could've been (but not necessarily have been) conveyed the 'wrong' way, causing people to misunderstand.

Gackt could be quite long-winded, but having such a long translation (especially of someone's diary entry) without any footnotes is hard. I understand that some translators think that having footnotes is a nuisance, but I believe it could be used to make the whole thing better understood.

Thanks for being patient. lol. Private life and Gackt comes hand in hand, in fact. =)

I think I have mentioned up above that, definitely, I believe it is authentic and that it does have get the rough meaning across. However, in Japanese, different tones must be conveyed in order to understand the whole meaning of it. I just wish the people reading had more than the translation to base on their comments (such as footnotes and a description of what happened in Korea and other resources ( ... )

i guess everything got very confusing.

I'm getting that a lot. People are saying the translation was confusing. Never in my life have I yet seen Gackt post about his thoughts in a confusing kind of way (aside from his usual gist of oddity...) which keeps me determined that there definitely needs to be a more thorough translation done on par of this one.

*hugs you* I flinched when I noticed it wasn't your translation...their translation confused me a lot, I think there should have been an explanation somewhere about what happened in Korea, because some of us (me!) had no clue what was going on. I'll wait for your translation before I decide anything about this...

I will try to gather as much information about what happened in Korea in the meantime while searching for the Japanese entry. =)

I've read all of the comments in this entry, and I really don't have anything to add, that hasn't been said already.

Three things, though. One, where is this diary translation? Two, I look forward to your thorough and detailed translation. Three, glad you're having a good time with the internship ^_^
