Then be aware that the school may be able to do what has been done in the States and use them to spy on your child at home. No, this isn't a joke

Does your child use a school provided laptop?stephenpFebruary 19 2010, 13:42:43 UTC
I still cannot believe how they thought this was a good idea. All my Internet traffic at home goes through my Linux system which tells me exactly which ports are open, which are trying to open without my permission and who is poking around my system from the outside in a straightforward and readable way.
Also I unplug my webcam when it's not in use, and run CCleaner, Spy-Bot Search and Destroy as well as Ad-Aware Pro on my Windows partition to be safe.
As fucked as I think all that is, and srsly...really really do, it's not hard to think of the plethora of people that have any number of legitimate reasons that homeschooling isn't viable. Kinda throws a spanner in your plan thar.
Hey, you know that I have nothing invested in people actually listening or doing anything about these things, because I think that the majority won't. But it's that rare person who actually has a brain that I post these things for. :)
I want to see you! We are broke this week, but I'm hoping to get up sometime next week. I have some really interesting things to tell you about, one of which is having had a flashback experience regarding knowing you before- Michael had to help me a lot with that one...
I'm both intrigued and amused already at what this flashback may hold.
And I wasn't saying people just wouldn't listen I was implying that there could be people that agree whole heartedly with you but just don't have the time or resources to educate their child/children properly on their own. I mean hell, you have all your kids at home and don't exactly home school them per say, they don't get even the useful bits of an academic education, they get what you want to teach them, to an extent, some parents wants their kids to have the math and english shit down...which I could argue both sides of the argument for but that's another story. My point there is basically whilst I agree I disagree, because I'm that special kind of bastard.
Actually, you guys got what *you* wanted, in any situation: you did go to school when you wanted and you liked what you liked, you didn't learn what you weren't inclined to learn. I can't imagine that having someone in a straight school ordering you to learn something would have motivated you in any way at all to learn something you had zero interest in, but I'm willing to agree that this is just based on who you were in your schooling days. :P
