Now, I'm sure the American's are going 'what?' because they get trailers over almost every TV show,
Yes, that was my initial reaction.
but over here in the UK we don't expect that shit from the BBC who each of us pay about £150.00 pounds to a month.
That was the point I had overlooked.

Plus the £150.00 per year, it's actually a TAX. If you do pay it and then watch jail you will be fined and sent to prison.

*Does the conversion math* Woah. We pay about, I want to say $200 a month, but we get a whole bunch of channels (basic, cable and premium ~600+) and that might include cable internet.

If you're paying that much I can understand why there would be so many complaints.

Also, would I be right in think that your $200 per month is sort of optional in terms of if you wanted just a basic package it would be less?

Well, this £150.00 we pay is basically TV Tax. You can't not pay it and then only watch non BBC Channels. If you don't pay it and you are watching TV you will be fined or go to jail.

It's why we get upperty when the BBC do this sort of thing. We're continually told that the BBC is committed to quality viewing, but in the eyes of the average Brit, having our shows interrupted with those little tags similar to you get is not quality, it's annoying.

Wow. A TV tax. Nice. Yeah, I'd be putting up a big fuss, too. It's crappy enough when we have to try to ignore little dancing figures at the bottom of our screens over here--at least we can call the cable company and tell them to shove it without fear of actual locked-up-ness.
