England Trip -- Quick update
I was hoping to update lj every day on my fabulous European vacation, but of course that hasn't worked out. We spent three days in France and my only internet connection was on my phone and I just didn't have the time or energy to type out a descent update on my phone. Paris!
Made it to Paris okay. The flight was LONG. But we survived. The absolute last thing we needed to do when we got here was sleep. So we've only been asleep for a few hours, lol. Oh, well. What's a little jet lag between friends?

Wait.... Who am I again?
Hello, all! It's been...like...forever since I last posted on LJ, which makes me kind of sad, because I love LJ and I love all my LJ friends. I've thought about posting about a thousand times over the last few months, but have never actually gotten around to it, largely because they're using a new filter at work that wont let me post from there ( Read more... ) -
English is dumb.
I was working with my kids at school today on vocabulary words. The first word was bilingual. We spent several minutes discussing how the prefix bi meant two and lingual meant language, so bilingual meant to speak two languages.
Next vocabulary word: biography. What does it mean, I ask the kids. Why, obviously, they say, based on the language ( Read more... ) -

I've been going into TV withdrawal over the Christmas holidays--all of my shows have been either between seasons or on a holiday hold. It. Has. Been. Hell. But this weekend the tide turns! Chuck is finally back tonight and last Friday Merlin's new season started airing. Now all I need is Supernatural and Doctor Who to get the show on the road ( Read more... ) -
Snow Day! Part Three
School has now officially been canceled for the third day in a row. Spring Break is dwindling before my very eyes. I was really surprised when they called today because my dad and I drove to town in his old jeep and the roads were completely fine, except for over the bridges. Even there it wasn't super slick, just fairly slushy. I figure there ( Read more... ) -
Snow Day!: The Sequel
School's canceled again tomorrow! Two days in a row. We actually did get some snow--at least two inches, which is more than we've gotten in a long time. I have mixed feelings about these two free days. I know we'll have to make them up later, and I really liked the days off we had set up for the year--there was at least one day off every month ( Read more... ) -
Snow Day!
School's cancelled for tomorrow because of a chance of snow. Just got back from the grocery store--there was one pack of eggs and half a quart of chocolate milk left on the shelves. No regular milk at all. There was actually quite a bit of bread left--I think they must have run the bread truck today. Just curious--do people buy out bread, milk, ( Read more... )
