In some ways I feel I'm still a toddler, bumbling my way through the complexities of human interaction. Is there a time limit on friendships? Do they really only stay "fresh" 2-3 years? Just a silly game to encourage you to exercise. And yet...
For the first time in 3 years I had access to a network the DS was compatible with (and had occasion to have my DS with me, and, well, remembered to do so.) Most of the minigames on Personal Trainer: Walking are mildly entertaining at best, but the farthest-sighted mode was "Space Walk" where it added up the steps of everyone in the world to see ( Read more... ) -
A new colander year.
The other day we went to a Korean market nearby and bought new kitchenware. I can now strain and steam stuff, and I finally have a slotted spoon. How many years have gone by that I've had no slotted spoon? Three? But with every passing year, my kitchen has felt more and more complete. Christmas is supposed to be Christmasy...
And it was, oh, it was... I had everything just about right. I gave good presents, got good presents, talked with my family, observed all my traditions, had all the right parts in the right places. Well sort of.
Yesterday at work was kind of miserable, I got scratched, scraped, gouged and I actually slipped and fell while trying to move a large box quickly. My fingers got mushed under a large frame and I have more than one bruise that I'm not sure where it came from. Yesterday went better, my sleep is still a mess but at least I was able to wake up earlier than average, cook grits, and unpack 12 boxes of mostly books and load them on the shelves. Not just the gut-wrenching, earth-shattering stuff. This does still feel like a sacred place in some ways, even though most of the people I came here for or kept in touch with through here aren't here anymore.
