Always my answer to the perennial question "Who is your favourite actor in Doctor Who?". The one time I met him in real life he was every bit as much the gentleman as he appeared on screen. This news is a real blow to me.

but the weather forecast looks like tomorrow might be the optimal departure day for my mother. We'll see how it goes.

It's very snowy here. It's not too much of a bother for me but my mother is a bit stressed about whether she's going to be able to get home for Christmas.

They do not make that clinic information easy to get hold of...

Now I just have to wait a month until the next available appointment.

Something disconcerting is up with my left eye, time to find out what the hell is going on with the appointments system for the eye clinic. I was supposed to have had that follow-up after the surgery ages since.

I suppose it was inevitable that opponents of health care reform in the US would turn on the NHS in an attempt to use it as a negative example, to suit their needs, since it is the most obvious example for them but the "lies, damned lies, and statistics" in use obscure the importance of having universal basic healthcare.
