manga: setting analysis!

I love looking at settings! They tell us a lot about what the characters grew up like, what their interests are, and even relationships between characters. So i figured I'd do it with di[e]ce, specially between Haruki and Kazuki to contrast their setting (with some additional Bishop action).

NONETHELESS, IT SPEAKS LEVELS. Especially compared to this. Haruki is ~above his players~ and... Kazuki... ...sleeps with his.

lol. I think that headcanon, from the hints we get in context, is the best we can do for them. And Haruki is also very strictly and professionally driven, which combined with the typical Japanese trope of that setting, means his parents are RICH through BEING PROFESSIONALS and have ~expectations~ of him.

In any case, at least with Kazuki we pretty much can confirm his Grandma was the only one raising him in canon.

Half the reason Kazuki is so spoiled is so Grandma could keep him preoccupied while doing others things.

you forgot to point out that when Harukiteam is eating at the coffee-table, Kirito kneels on the floor, Gara sits on that box, and Haruki gets the entire loveseat to himself

re: the bit with there being a gap between Haruki's family's financial level and Kazuki's, it might not actually be that big! His house is upper middle class, but he goes to a private school full of filthy rich kids (Haruki! Yuki!), he blows money on video games and arcades, and that's a full-size house for just him and his grandma. Smaller family, smaller hourse! STILL LOADED.

Yeah, I don't think the gap is huge or anything. Still upper middle class, that's for sure! But they probably watch their money a little closer than Yuki and Haruki nonetheless... possibly because Kazuki gets so much money spent on HIM rather than the family as a whole. From what we've seen, Yuki and Haruki aren't nearly as spoiled-- Kazuki has way more general STUFF than either of them, and we all know Yuki's family situation.

this post had me go back and looking at what we see of his house and geez they are loaded. They have a tree-lined driveway! Leading to a walled-in yard! With a seperate building for the garage! SO MANY SERVANTS. but we only get a tiny view of part of his room boo

CONSIDERING HOW MUCH TIME YUKI PROBABLY SPENDS AT HOME it's likely he only has text books and such there, nothing very personal.
