Apparently it is unusual that I can name all nine justices on the Supreme Court, who appointed them, and which way they lean. Just read that less than half of the people could even say how many justices we have

If only high-school level polisci courses weren't dull as dirt, just like econ. They really need to give more real-world context to make this stuff stick in kids' minds, rather than making them memorize long and boring lists to be regurgitated onto a test paper and then promptly forgotten.

I think it helped being the token liberal in my school; I had to study up so that I wouldn't be outflanked by everyone.

I liked my political science/government course - but then, the teacher was awesome and he'd go off onto tangents about his love of England (so why he was teaching US politics/government/history is beyond me), so it kept me pretty enthralled because he'd always talk about the differences in the systems.

I could probably name some if I looked at a list, (like of real vs. fictitious cases) but I was mostly concerned with not failing Calculus that year.

I admittedly can't name the justices either, but at least I know who the Secretary of State is, which is far more than my generation can normally say >_____> I'm just not that into who has the power, just what they're doing with it...which, admittedly, is a little backwards, because to know the person is to know what they're likely to do.
