Cool women that I learned about today

There's a story on slashdot today about Top Ten Geek Girls. The original list is pretty silly (Paris Hilton?) (it does have some good names there too, though). But by reading the comments, I learned about the following pretty cool women:

• Sophie Germain
• Hedy Lamarr
• Emmy Noether

And then, of course we have Jocelyn Bell.

i like this girl: Émilie du Châtelet. There was an npr story on her this morning. the wikipedia article doesn't have a lot of the info that was in the npr story. she translated principia mathematica into french and discovered that KE=(1/2)mv^2!
