On New Year's eve dudemomdude absconded with me for an overnight birthday excursion in Santa Cruz.

First stop was the Inn at Pasatiempo, literally rock-hucking distance from Highway 17. After a nap in our hotel room we went to the Santa Cruz Diner. The food, service and decor were pretty cool. Lots of pressed tin signs from long-vanished establishments ( Read more... )

dudemomdude will be starting dialysis next week.

Kidney issues are something that all diabetics have to deal with sooner or later. And, although this is serious business, dudemomdude actually has the advantage of being young. She has more options available to her, including a kidney+pancreas transplant.
