Gardening week in review (actually 2 weeks)
Weather is still cool here, with a very late start to Spring. We had snow and sleet on 4/18 and 4/19, followed by many rainy days. The forsythia and daffodils are in bloom, and where last year the bloom faded quickly in the heat, this year it is lasting a long time. White crocus are blooming, both kinds of squill are still colorful, and tulips ( Read more... ) -
Butterfly habitat
The Southeast Wisconsin Master Gardener Volunteers maintain a butterfly habitat garden at the Milwaukee County Zoo. The garden is a complete habitat, providing caterpillar food plants, nectar plants for butterflies, a muddle, rock piles and wood piles for overwintering native butterflies. Gardening week in review
Garden season has begun in earnest, despite the snow we had yesterday. From a high of 83 degrees last Sunday, to 34 degrees on Saturday - a typical Spring in Wisconsin. We had some sunny weather, with highs in the 60s, and late in the week some rainy, cold days ( Read more... ) -

I just opened an account at Dreamwidth, since so many of my friends have accounts there. Since I'm retiring soon, I'm looking for a good place to blog about my garden. Could be LJ, could be Dreamwidth, could be someplace else.

Retirement
Fourteen workdays left. There's the possibility of part time, limited term employment - but my inclination right now is to decline. -
My life
My official retirement date is May 3, 2010. I am so looking forward to cleaning my house, sorting through the pile, reading all the books that I've bought and all the books I want to borrow, and gardening! And cooking again, and exercising, and having enthusiasm for the rest of my life instead of having all my energy absorbed by work.
