[Video, catching you awake. ^^]missthewomanMay 1 2011, 06:18:23 UTC
[Glancing briefly over the papers shown in the video feed, Irene sighs slightly. It sounds terribly like some mix of police work and Holmes-like reasoning. (Something she'd perhaps rather not get involved in.) However, one or two things do catch her eye.]
If I may, have you read to the end of Chapter One yet? I'll admit some curiosity as to how a schoolteacher and a sumo wrestler are alike.
I would say only if you are around those whose character gives you reason to emphasize it. And it seems to me that you are the type of person to keep company with very respectable people.
Pardon the monologue then. I like to go into a detail.
On my world, I served as a colonel for OZ. We overthrew the former Alliance's tyranny. In time, OZ became the World Nation forces. However, when the First Eve War ended, we were disbanded as disarmament was put into place. I then took my place as leader of Preventer, an elite task force for the defense of the Earth and colonies.
And here on Thor...
[a self-deprecating chortle]
I started as a floor scrubber. Though I have found a kindly benefactor for Preventer's re-establishment.
Hm, what else? Understudying for a musical. Peeling stickers off of fruit. Hunting trash beasts. Animal rights activism...
[Besides the fact that her history is completely out of context for this, there are some things that she gathers. A colonel, and leader of defense through an organization that will be re-established. However, out here on the Thor, defense from what, exactly?]
Given those jobs, it sounds like you will quite welcome a return to your leadership role in the re-established organization.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't. I'll protect this ship though it's nowhere near enough to make amends for what I failed to do back home. Still, one must do what one can...
This ship seems to be a magnet for calamity, in any case. I'll have my work cut out for me.
[Mmm. Interesting. And a magnet for calamity, is it?]
Perhaps so. Would I be right in saying that you've been here for about half a year? For I'm wondering what calamities besides the Sigrun the Thor has seen in such a short time.

[How very amusing.]
And if I may, what is your vocation?

But I've seen more than I could have ever imagined in that short span of time. Mostly unpleasant.

A shame you have seen so much unpleasantness in your short time here, then. [Likely she was mostly seeing what she was looking for.]
