[Video, catching you awake. ^^] missthewoman May 1 2011, 06:18:23 UTC
[Glancing briefly over the papers shown in the video feed, Irene sighs slightly. It sounds terribly like some mix of police work and Holmes-like reasoning. (Something she'd perhaps rather not get involved in.)
However, one or two things do catch her eye.]

If I may, have you read to the end of Chapter One yet? I'll admit some curiosity as to how a schoolteacher and a sumo wrestler are alike.

It made me yearn for distraction. I thought it prudent to be functional while I was at it.

Certainly. Always best to hit two birds with one stone.

Why just two? Upset the whole flock and send them flying into a net.

[She gives a low chuckle at that.]

Very well said.

Best not to do things in half-measures.

[Hardly a half-measure if one stone and two birds are all there is to it. But still, just semantics.]

Out of curiosity, do you prefer stones or nets?

A tandem. I hardly see why one should be selected over the other when they work so much better together. However, should I be forced to select just one, I'd go with the net. It fits with the pacifist ideal my organization is now supposed to embody.

'Supposed to'?

It's demanded by our benefactor. Not exactly a preference.

Ah, I see. The golden rule.

In a way. We don't kill anybody and he doesn't kill our funding. Fair enough.

[She chuckles lowly again - she was thinking more along the lines of 'those who have the gold make the rules'. But this works as well.]

Fair enough indeed.
Your benefactor seems to have quite strong convictions.
