I Got 'em Back!

I got my fic back! The Tween had to have my help copying some of her fic from our old P.C. to her Macbook--she didn't know how to convert to .doc files so I showed her--and after she got hers transfered, I asked her to transfer mine. It took about one minute to do it. I had to figure out a way to save it so that it was all easily accessible. ( Read more... )

For the future: you might want to think about duplicating those files onto a web-based document program, like Google docs. That way, if your own computer is inaccessible for whatever reason, you can work on them from any computer with 'net access. It's really easy to do, and it also makes the documents easier to share, as well.

I like it because if my computer is down, I can use the DH's laptop or even a public computer, like at the library or an internet cafe to keep on working on my stories.

I had a thumb drive I was going to keep them on, but it doesn't work.

I could have accessed them, if I'd wanted to wade through the mess that was my daughter's room, since they were on the old computer. I just wanted to have them all right where I could get to them without any effort. I probably am going to look into some form of backup for them.

Well, I quite like using Google.docs! It's a great back-up, and since it's web-based, problems with your own computer does not affect what you put on Google.docs!

I'm excited and relieved. We'll just have to see if it motivates me to do something with them.
