I agree with you on all of those points. I registered to vote, but I didn't get a chance to send in my absentee ballot. I agree with you on the abortion and homosexuality. I was telling my mom this morning, if Bush and Kerry were a hybrid, Bush for foreign policy and Kerry on domestic, I think we would have a good presidency. I'm not fond of Kerry's foreign policy or the war, but I'm not fond of Bush's domestic policy. But that's just me.
I appreciate your post. I also think it's important to respect everyones choice and to encourage all to vote. Whatever is meant to happen will. Love ya!
That was really well written and I don't think any of it could be seen as offensive or insulting. My campus is extremely far-left, and every day I am BOMBARDED with people telling me who to vote for (Kerry or Nader) because they are not Bush. They don't really even have a grasp on any of the issues. One kid told me that Bush got his money from the Nazis...but failed to tell me where he found it ("Oh in some book I read somewhere"). Nice. I know the far right is this cutthroat as well, but I'd at least like to have some of EACH extremeists here to balance things out. So I can appreciate it when you say that you are given crap for supporting Kerry.
It's important to vote, it's important to pick someone who you think will best serve this country and represent you, but the president isn't this all powerful person that people (at least around my campus) seem to think he is. The world will not end because Kerry or Bush isn't elected. Yikes.
Blue Moooooon.... I saw you standing alooooonnnneee...

Anyway, you wrote lots, and I agree (to some extent), as you know. Most importantly, I agree that everyone should have the right to choose who they want, and for their own reasons. Voting or not doing so for a candidate for the wrong reasons (as so wonderfully illustrated the other night on the radio, which I'll write about in my Xanga) is just not right. The beauty of America is that, as citizens, we have the right to vote for the candidate we choose to. When people begin to push others too much to vote for a certain person is when it becomes irritating and even undesireable to vote. Hmm... I'm not sure that all came out right... But whatever. I liked our conversation on the way to the track on Sat... good stuff. Later, SQUIDDY
