"it's my dream to have a nice big bubble butt..."

So what else have I been up to in the last three years? I'm still working out like a fiend at the gymnasium. I've made some strides. When I got Cappy I lost about 11 pounds in three months because I stopped going to the gym to potty train the little guy. I went from 148lbs down to 137lbs back up to 152lbs 2-1/2 months later and I've sort of hovered ( Read more... )

alright mister fitness, I could use some workout tips.

I'm focusing on weight loss at the moment, any type of cardio you'd suggest? as far as weight training, when should I start? should I do that along with cardio?

I already have my healthy eating down to a science and have been losing each week, but I'm tired of just going for walks around the park... and with the weather sucking it's been difficult to get motivated to get out there. oh, that and two jobs are getting in the way and I don't have the discipline to get to the gym at 7am only to have to work til 10. I have a lot of challenges working against me and I'm trying to battle them.

I don't expect to look like you ever, I mean I'm too tall for starters ;-) but any tips you could provide would be great. I've been trying to maintain a diet/workout progress site http://web.me.com/ryanchristopher

Keep in mind, I'm not a trainer and I only know what worked for me but I'll do my best from my limited knowledge.

As far as I know the best machine to use to burn fat is the elliptical over the bike, treadmill and/or running. It does the least damage to your joints as well. Your best bet for cardio though is to make your own little boot camp. Doing different intervals of core work on the ball (ie crunches if you don't have a ball), push-ups, burpees, jumping rope, jumping jacks with some light weights in your hands, steping up and down on a short step stool. Basically just jumping all over the place using your own body weight as a tool. I've been taking 5hr energies before the gym a lot lately and they give me a total surge in energy to push my body to the limit. I think it's just Vitamin b12/c in there with some caffine so it's not too harmful.

Making a diet/workout blog TOTALLY motivated me and seeing your progress ALWAYS gives you the confidence boost you need when you feel like quitting! I'm so proud of you man!

yes! I am a huge fan of the elliptical and plan on buying one for my home.

I was actually thinking of ways to get myself motivated to get up early to get to the gym. I'm working 2 jobs, some days back to back, so when I get in late it seems hard to get up early to get to the gym. So I was considering keeping a 5 hour energy next to my bed so it would get me out of bed and into the office to use the gym.

I'll have to try it out soon.

I have a Jillian Michaels workout DVD and she kicks my ass, it's a lot of cardio with some strength thrown in. I could always wake up early and do that instead of going to the gym. hmm. at least now I have options and ideas, so thank you

It sounds like you really have the determination to make it happen. You just have to keep motivated. Some days I really just want to quit it. Keep photos of people with your goal posted on your fridge. Everytime I want to eat crappy food I check out the picture of Jessie from Big Brother on my fridge and then I go JO and forget why I went into the kitchen to begin with. HAHAHAHA.

You know, I kind of agree with Walter's topic line: fussing over perfection. :)

But as someone who's just started returning to the gym after a few years off, I'm remembering how good it is -- not necessarily because it makes you look better, but because it makes you FEEL so much better.

Exactly. It's also nice to have healthy goals in life--it keeps you motivated.

Lookin good man. I had big dreams for this summer and got sidelined by my surgery. Hoping to get the go-ahead today to get back in action. I got my bike fixed and looking how it seems to work for you as far as keeping fat off I am anxious to get out there. Hardest part for me is eating enough/consistent.

Surgery? garyjr July 22 2009, 19:46:49 UTC
Surgery sucks! What happened? I've been sidelined by injuries before and it's NOT fun. The waiting...ugg...it's endless. I hope you feel better, you could always focus on diet in the mean time.

Just sent your timer for every 3 hours Or post a note at your desk (that's what I did, to remind myself to eat at 11:00, 1:00, 4:00 at work. And keep lost of healthy things there otherwise you will forget.

I had a detached retina. The whole experience was quite awful and the sad part is it was even caused by doing something fun... just stress!
