First Monday of January = single worst work day of the calendar year. -

Two friends recently posted to their blogs following lengthy absences from the blogging world, and I remembered, "Oh yeah, I have one of those, too." Irony
The weather yesterday was just gross. The snow was fine, but the sleet and rain that followed just made everything miserable. Knowing it was supposed to get below freezing overnight, I figured I ought to park at the top of the driveway. Driving uphill in snow is one thing; on ice is completely different. After having taken four classes I had to choose between matriculating, and thereby committing to finishing a degree, or ending my studies there. Snow!!!
The first big snowstorm of the season is always so exciting! We got to leave work about 1 yesterday. I think we ended up with about a foot. This morning I got up and cross country skied over to, around, and back from Elizabeth Park. The rose bushes are all in burlap for the season, certainly not as attractive as mid June. Would love to be in Grant Park right now
I keep thinking about my grandfather, lifelong resident of Cook County, IL (Chicago, Wilmette, Winnetka, Evanston) and ardent supporter of Barack Obama and the Democratic Party in general. Before he passed away in February, my grandfather had phone conversations with Obama. So cool. -
