These are the mods: 1) I used one can of fire-roasted tomatoes, and one can of tomato puree.
2) I used about 1/3 of the onion that the recipe calls for.
3) I used evaporated milk instead of cream.
4) I had originally decided NOT to put it through the food processor, but in retrospect, especially with the onion, it's too chunky without doing that. (And after putting it through the food processor, it still has recognizable pieces of onion in it, though they are very small. Maybe I didn't saute the onion long enough in the beginning; I dunno. It's still good, though.)

I found the recipe online, and my friend Amit helped out with some modifications. I'll post it here if it turns out well.
