Thump!
Daniel found himself lying on the floor, having only fallen the equivalent of a foot and a half. Hey, height is hard to judge when you’ve been dazzled by a flash of Sam-mutated machinery afteraffects. And somehow, in that flash of light, his chair had disappeared. Daniel slowly sat up, blinking owlishly to try and get rid of the fading buzz in his head. What the heck just happened?! he thought, completely bewildered. Something was off…
As his vision returned to normal, he found himself sitting in what appeared to be a normal living room, a large corner of which was taken up by a very large black Yamaha piano.
A normal living room and black piano that he had never seen before in his life.
“Oooh this can’t be good.”

Raiel had just come home from work, and as such was still dressed in his work uniform. It bore a fair resemblance to the UPS uniform, but in a dark shade of grey and with a different logo on the front. The lack of green might make him hard to recognize, but there was the orange ascot around his neck and the eyepatch over his right eye to make up for that. And, of course, what other one-eyed blond recognized Daniel on sight?
But that was all the reaction he gave. He continued into the kitchen and spent about a minute throwing together a sandwich and it was not until after the first bite that he suddenly realized what had happened and choked.
(After recovering) he ran back to the doorway and provided a more appropriate reaction this time. "DANIEL?!"

Then Raiel was back again, with a reaction much more closely matching his own.
"RAIEL?!" he shouted back, trying to scramble to his feet. He managed to bonk his shin on a coffee table, but in retrospect, the sharp stab of agony might have done some good for clarifying his thoughts. Struggling to regain control of his tongue, he stammered, "How-! What-! Where am I?" A feeling of dread washed over him, mixing with the happier surprise of seeing Raiel and confusing him further. "Crap, are we in Manhattan again?"
In the midst of his confusion, his eye glanced back over the huge black Yamaha piano in the corner. Despite the confusion (and pinched leg nerve), one thought did manage to surface: Of course.

And Daniel was there.
It sank in, and for a moment he just stared, stunned into silence. It was Daniel, he was here, in Ohio, in Raiel's living room. Raiel was almost afraid to believe it was true.
He stepped forward, tentatively setting a hand against Daniel's shoulder. Solid. "It's really you," he said, in a tone of quiet awe.
And then, without warning, he threw his arms around Daniel and pulled him into a tight hug. Maybe a little too tight. "I thought I'd never see you again, Daniel!" It was obvious by his voice that he was starting to cry.

Instantly, Derek changed his stance, back to a wall, tightened his grip on his microphone, and was ready for anything that came his way. He pressed his free hand to his ear and tried to contact HQ. "Jude setting the beat. Dancing in the dark. Strangers to love, return to sender, address unknown." And after a quick beat because, after Manhattan, it was worth saying. "...Run and tell all the angels I won't play chicken with the train." No reply. Nothing but static.
He was cut off from HQ, next. What info did he have? Others? No. (Please let them be at HQ.) Senses? Yes. Music? Yes. ...Microphone? Yes. All that in a matter of seconds. Once he stopped trying to gather what information he could, Derek heard a beat ( ... )

Daniel opened his eyes, and instantly yelped in surprise. Standing less than six inches in front of him was a person! Shocked by the sudden close proximity, Daniel jerked backwards, very nearly losing his balance. He was not going to get used to this anytime soon...
Suddenly the face registered in his brain, sending a very different jolt down his spine.
"J?!"

Though, the extra, sudden sound of a person's song appearing out of nowhere, and close, was a bit ear-catching, and maybe a smidge familiar. Spin had darted from his room into the hall at the prompt of the sound, gawking. "What the Astley--Dan--"
The rookie gawked a moment, before shaking his head and darting to an intercom on the wall. "Captain Hampton, we got a rock in the cashbah, looks like dirty pop on level two, Maxwell and Kilroy where the party's at. Check for eggmen, 'specially on diamond pavement. Lettin' the music play, Sir."
It was all blurted into the intercom rapidly, before he turned back to stare at Daniel. "Hey man what's up, are the dimensions imploding again?"

Could this day get any crazier?!
"Whoa, whoa, hold it!" he yelled as loudly as he could, shoving himself to his feet.
Teal'c was doing his best to keep the teenager pinned, hardly breaking a sweat as he responded tightly, "This stranger attacked me, Daniel Jackson!"
Yeah, that was certainly a good question that needed to be answered. Still, this was Bobby. Daniel stepped to Teal'c's side and put a hand on the staff. "It's okay, he's a friend of mine. I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding. Calm down, okay?"
Teal'c gave Daniel a hard look, and then seemed willing to accept this. Stepping back, he let Bobby rise to his feet. Daniel offered him a hand. "Well, that was impressive. Are you okay?"

"You were attacking HIM," Bobby protested when the other guy spoke up. It was after he said that, that things started to fall into place. He was on a mat for one and out of the corner of his eye he could see that Daniel was covered in padding. Oh...oooohhh. Well now Bobby just felt stupid. Daniel had just been sparring with this guy.
Which raised several questions:
1) Who was this other guy?
2) Why were they sparring?
3) How had Bobby gotten here to SEE them sparring?
The last one was probably the most important. Bobby blinked when Teal'c stepped away and then rose to his feet with the help from Daniel. "Ah, yeah I think so. Do you mind telling me what's going on?" Bobby looked over at the other man in the room who was kind of making Bobby uncomfortable. Man, his stares could rival Loor's ( ... )

This was definitely where she belonged.
Productivity was nice as well. Her fingers had been itching to work on the engine for so long now that she'd barely stopped since they had been returned home. It was easier to think about than Odd, for sure...hadn't even gotten to say goodbye... But it was what she loved doing, and while things around Simon had been a bit awkward at first, they were slowly sinking back into their normal routine, and the mechanic was glad for the familiarity of it ( ... )

Then Kaylee - Kaylee! - was hugging him with a grip that momentarily rivaled Raiel's during his first trip.
Daniel was speechless for a half-second, and then a huge grin filled his face as he gave the woman just as big a hug back. "I thought that hammock looked familiar!" he laughed, not even bothering to keep the excitement he was feeling out of his voice. Kaylee, one of his closest and earliest friends from alternate Manhattan - safe, alive, and right in front of him ( ... )

Ai ya he was a sight for sore eyes. Didn't look like he'd been bothered or injured or anything upon leaving Manhattan or arriving here. Looked and sounded fine, with that smile that only Daniel could bring into the room.
"No worries, none at all. Most everybody went home nice 'n safe." Some that she wasn't sure about...she was still hoping for. Worry later, be excited in the now.
She tugged on his arm, eager to find Mal or Jayne or somebody before he decided to vanish as quickly as he'd appeared. Just to make sure she wasn't crazy. "C'mon," she grinned. "I'm thinkin' it's been a long time comin' that you've needed to meet Serenity here."
