Is anyone else just so disappointed in the new season of Doctor Who? My son loves Doctor Who, but since the new season came out on Netflix, I find myself not wanting him to watch it. They spent the first five seasons establishing him as anti-weapon, especially anti-gun, then suddenly he's fighting side by side with River Song who is "heroically" ( Read more... )

Rose killed the entire Dalek fleet. The Doctor destroyed Pompelli. He fought alongside UNIT. Most of his enemies end up getting killed or worse. He has never really consistently been a pacifist. And even his enemies have pointed out how he molds his companions into weapons.

That said, the River/Melody centric plot line didn't grab my attention.

That's true, and I did give that some thought, but for some reason the recent episodes are just coming across as way more violent than any previous ones. I never gave a second thought to letting my son watch the show before, but now I find myself pre-screening them before I let him watch.

they are way scarier too! The last two seasons have been so much different than the previous. I miss David Tennent :(

I don't think they've been any more frightening than Blink or the Hell one. But I don't see how they market that show as family friendly. Maybe for an older teen, but I wouldn't let my son watch it. He's 7. I still love The Doctor though! lol

I've been significantly less entertained ever since Tennent was replaced, so I'm probably biased either way. Not even the weeping angels were as scary without him!
