Oh, No Wedding Planning

Jun 02, 2013 01:42

I swear, I'm going to talk about something other than wedding planning here soon, especially now that we've picked a date. It's just been wedding-a-palooza here lately. It's been a little annoying because I've had a lot of writing to do, but haven't gotten any of it done. Last Saturday at the bridal shop we bought this wedding organizer, which is ( Read more... )

You've got plenty of time to make decisions about what exactly you want for your wedding, don't let anyone push you into something you're not happy with.
My advice, for what it's worth, decide what colors/theme you want for your wedding first. Once you get that decided, it's much easier to make the rest of the decisions.
With as much time as you have, look at places that will let you make payments for stuff. For instance, a lot of bakeries require 50% down with the rest due about a week or 2 before the wedding - shop around and see if you can find a place that will take smaller payments spread out over more time. We were able to find an award winning cake decorator that required $50 down and you could make as many payments as you needed to in what amounts you need to as long as it was all paid by a couple weeks before the wedding.

I've definitely started to think about what color scheme I want for the wedding. I asked Michael about it, but he doesn't really care. Purple is one of my favorite colors. But there are a lot of different shades, so trying to figure out what shade I want and if I want any other colors but purple and white.

Haven't decided on a theme, or if we want or a theme, for the wedding.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be on the look out for places with flexible payment plans. That would definitely make things a lot easier.

It made it a lot easier to be able to make payments and get things that we needed over time. I ended up making a lot of the stuff for my daughters wedding - the centerpieces, pew bows, etc... and that saved quite a bit too. For instance, for the wedding favors, we gave out bubbles - Michael's had 100 bubble wands in small bottles for $19.99 and then I printed out little tag that had their names and the date of the wedding and tied it onto the bubble wands with ribbon in the wedding colors.

That's a really cute idea for wedding favors.

I was flipping through a Bride magazine yesterday and one of the articles was talking about fun ways to exit the ceremony, other than rice or petal tossing, and it mentioned bubbles. I asked Mike about it and he actually thought that would be a cute idea.

We're planning on doing some stuff ourselves. Not sure yet if we're going to do the cake ourselves. One of Mike's grandmothers actually used to make wedding cakes for a living and made the cake for his sister's wedding, but she's out of state now so don't know if she'll do it for us.

We've talked about doing the flowers and invitations ourselves.

I had a small wedding reception, putting more of our money towards our honeymoon than for the actual wedding 'cause since i was a little child i wanted to go in Egypt on honeymoon and i'm so happy we did it.
Good luck with everything, girl! *sends positive vibes*
