Feet Don't Fail Me Now

Still haven't been able to find a shoe for the wedding. Jean and I went shopping again last week. I didn't think there was a point in going back to the stores we'd already been too, but since that was months ago, I hoped that maybe they got new shoes in. But it seemed like they had even less to offer than before. I talked to one of the salespeople ( Read more... )

You can find a website with info and see if it's what she has.

I had no idea either about its name. I'm sure my mom already took me to someone who said at the time it couldn't be fixed.

Hmm, children's department. That's not something I've ever really thought about.

I think - if it's possibly to correct it surgically - the decision should depend how much of an issue it's for you. Whether or not you can easily find shoes obviously factors in (though my toes are perfectly standard and I still have trouble finding shoes that fit because the skin on my feels is ridiculously sensitive and I can't wear pumps or ballerinas or even sneakers, so it's either boots or sandals) but also how painful/uncomfortable it's for you in everyday life.

Other than the shoe thing, it's not that much of an issue for me, but I do worry, after reading that website, of long-term effects. So I'll think about it for a while longer before making a decision.

Oh wow! That must have been quite shocking for you. I hope everything works out because walking around on crutches and whatnot would be so inconvenient with your wedding coming up.

I have to think about it some more and decide whether I want to talk to the specialist. If I do, and do decide to go through with surgery, it'll definitely be after the wedding.

Hm... I can totally imagine that this is a hard decision and I wouldn't know if I would be willing to do that knowing I would be "out" for such a long time... but I mean, if the insurance would cover it, there would at leaset no financial burdens for it...

I hope, you'll find shoes for your wedding soon, so this is finally off the table for you!

That's definitely one of the things to think about - whether or not it could get covered by insurance. If it isn't I definitely couldn't do the surgery.

Thanks!

Personally, I wouldn't trust a doctor who doesn't know the name of the condition you have. As you said, they're not infallbible, but there's limits to that.

Mmm, about the recovery times. They can be annoying. But depending on how much your toe situation bothers you, you could consider surgery. Maybe not right now, but in the future.

I know, for example, that one day I'll fix my non exemplary knee. When I'm most cool with it? At some point.

Obviously the decision rests with you, but consult lots of doctors anyway. They're not all brilliant. Experience talking here.

I'll definitely be taking some time to think about it. It might be a while before I make a decision.

I'll definitely be talking to a (hopefully) more qualified specialist before I make any decision.
