The Mutual Appreciation Meme

I like this idea. I know the value of a warm fuzzy as well as anyone.

As seen on selkiesiren's LJ, and hijacked from klytus (Thanks, both of you, for this, and other things...):

klytus is one of the most doggedly loyal people I've ever met. He has an amazing gift for overlooking peoples' faults and helping to take care of them when they're at their lowest. He's also a brilliant gamemaster, and a remarkably tolerant one in the face of a party obsessed with goats' blood.

scaleslea has a quiet intellect and very clever wit that one would not expect to see on a shaggy, bearded Harley rider. Many of his friends think of him as a big teddy bear, and with good reason. I have several pleasant memories of working with him at the weight-guessing scale, and the fact that I have memories at all from that many years ago is a testament to how much fun that experience was, as Notlob, Anthrax, and Stickleback can no doubt attest.

Good lord... do you realize those girls are adults now? Mid to late 20's?

Somehow I don't think they kept the names...

keetara has a genuine nature to her affections - she does not bestow them indiscriminately, but for those fortunate enough to enter her circle of tight friends, you *know* that she really cares for you. Selkie's and my wedding would never have gone as smoothly as it did if not for the fact that she showed up early and picked up all the loose threads that I was too flustered even to know they were there.

Plus she does this really amazing thing with her nails....

I already know, because of my focus issues, I'm going to leave out a lot of what ought to be said here, but I'll try: selkiesiren is the most generous and caring soul I've ever met (which a lot of people might not expect, given her Denis Learyesque Scots-Irish bluntness). She is giving to me even when I don't deserve it, which is more often than is comfortable to admit. She is also the FUNNIEST romantic partner I have ever had - and I go through life with a doofy smile on my face over the latest way she's found to make me giggle. She has given me, through regular laughter, the most wonderful gift I could have asked for - that of going through life happy. And isn't that really what we all want, however we may interpret that ( ... )

You forgot a genius, creative, musical, a wonderful decorator, and modest.

And, I'm 45. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

You tell me inflated tales of my supposed wonderfulness whenever I see you, but, what the heck.

I've been looking forward to this one. sm_jen has a kind, warm, and responsible spirit, and an energy/aura about her that just makes you feel good. She's the most capable stage manager I've ever seen; I've never seen her not be on top of things. When the structure begins to crumble (invariably due to the volatile nature of performers and not by any slips on her part), she still manages to keep a cool head.

There's a scene in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in which Harry refers to Rita Skeeter as "that skeeter cow," and then apologizes to Dumbledore, having realized he said something he shouldn't have. Dumbledore then says "I have gone temporarily deaf and haven't any idea what you've just said, Harry." sm_jen reminded me pleasantly of that sort of thing last season at MDRF when she was given a choice of two bands to put in a particular time slot at pub sing; whichever she could find first would be the practical choice. One of these bands had earned themselves a reputation for being rude to other performers. sm_jen then decided that, darn ( ... )

She's also got these really beautiful doelike deep brown eyes...

And a really deep crimson blush on her cheeks...

I remember that incident but, oddly, I can't remember the bands involved. Oh, well, if a band is that annoying, I'm sure they'll make their tendencies known to us pretty early in the day.
