Depending on your career dreams, college may net you significantly more income in the future. That said, from my 34-year-old perspective: 1) autodidacticism rocks, and 2) take your time.

You might not need college, but it would suck to skip it all together, and then regret it later.
There's really only a limited window of time where it's "easy" to go to school. You're at that age, and people don't want you to "miss" that chance. Their thinking is probably that if you don't end up needing college to achieve your goals, then at least you had the experience, and you were prepared just in case. If you do have goals that end up being more easily met with an education under your belt, then it paid off, as it's designed to
