Yes, Virginia is a bitch to drive through, especially after 2 hours of North Carolina. Not looking forward to that. 120 miles in NC, around 300 in Virginia, then around 225 in Penn. Makes the whole trip north dull.

Oh, and yes, there does seem to be much fewer black people in the north. I'm not sure exactly why, though.

I-81S and I-77N? Yep, been there. Funny :) Also enjoyed another onramp in Penn that said you were on I-81N in the left lane and I-81S in the right lane. Woohah.

Other observations that I shall offer you, that you can confirm for me:
- Pennsylvania is the source of the worst drivers in America. Period. Watch them for a little while and see what kind of wacky shit they pull. Frequently.
- I'm convinced that the above is because Pennsylvania's highway and exit systems are FUBAR.

How was traffic through Richmond? Construction backing everything up, or did it flow pretty smoothly? Need to know :p

Traffic was fine... it just had the most fucked up signs in the universe... That and I paid a 12$ toll to cross that damn Chesapeak (sp) bay bridge/chunnel.

Get your ass home :P

I don't remember paying a toll... Usually I take I-95N up to somewhere in Penn, then 66(?) west to 81 so I can avoid D.C. and Baltimore all-together. I-81N passes near Cortland (it's actually the exit I used to use when I went to class in Syracuse, just coming to it from the south), and then I drive 20 minutes back south on NY-366 to get home :p

Guess I should have asked which road ya took through Richmond, neh? ^^

I remember those signs indicating I-95N in two different directions. I-64 is just as confusing down around Norfolk-Chesapeake-Suffolk area.

Sadly, the drivers might do it for you if you do wander this way again. At least down here in the Hampton Roads area, the drivers remind me of the old Steve Jackson game "Car Wars". LOL
