This has been kicking around in my folder for a month or so, undergoing endless tweaking. (Poor words. I never let them catch a break).

It's been beta'd by my ever faithful trio, Faye, kaly, and Tyranusfan, but as usual, I played with it quite a bit after they sent it back. (Isn't that sad, that I need three for not even 2000 words? Thanks, guys, ( Read more... )

I really like this. You've got their emotions down well. I could really see them both reacting like that.

Ugh. Hurts to think about, doesn't it? We need this strike to end so Kripke can save them (and us).

This hurts so bad to read. You did such an amazing job of capturing their emotions.

This is killing Sam, every bit as much as it killed Dean when Sam died. Maybe more: for a year, Sam’s been trying to stop a slow-motion train wreck with only his two bare hands, and now, he’ll not only have to watch it happen, but deal with the fact that he failed-promised Dean he’d save him and failed.

Dean knows that feeling well. Out of everything they’ve shared, this is the one thing he never, ever wanted Sam to have in common with him.

For the first time, he wonders if it wouldn’t have been kinder to let Sam stay dead in the first place.

That? Yeah that's the whole horrible futile deal in a nutshell and god I hope Kripke has the guts to actually deal with this sort of fall out and not turn the whole thing into another comedy routine - still whatever he decides to do I'm going to remember this beautifully written piece. You really captured all the horror in the quietude of a never ending year long grief. Thanks so much for sharing. :)

I totally agree...there are so many things that get left unaddressed on the show, and I really hope this is one where Kripke gives us EVERYTHING. Blood and guts and tears and screaming and the works. We've earned it. :)

"You really captured all the horror in the quietude of a never ending year long grief."--awesome, awesome comment. Thank you so much!
