I've been reading how people are trying to get back into their blogging. Granted, this is the only site I really read, so that means my fellow LJers. I've been way bad on this front after having realized that my daughter is possessed. Seriously, she's tough and drains all my energy, but she can't help it ( Read more... )

I sat in my car last night and tried to slit my wrists. My kid is horrible and I seriously hate him some days. But I am too chicken to ever actually do anything.

Have you had him checked for Sensory Processing Disorder? That's my kid's problem. She does what she does because she's trying to figure out what her body needs because her neurological system doesn't process the information her senses take in the way healthy systems do.

It's actually extremely common (at least 20% of people are born with it).

That seems like an awfully high number. I haven't found that anywhere. All I can find is 1 in 20. I'm not trying to disprove you, I'm just curious why if 20% of the population is born with it, why I haven't heard about it before?

I got the figure from the therapists who work in the field. I thought it was high, too, but not all who have a version of it are as negatively affected. Think of it like PMS. It definitely varies in severity from person to person.
