Minor F-List Cut

Nov 03, 2010 08:42

I've always believed in the idea of "friends over fandom."  But I suppose when all people have in common is a small section of fandom, then "friends" is a word loosely applied here.  I've noticed, that since I've become a diehard Chlollier, some Chlarkers, who have been on my f-list since I first joined LJ have de-friended me. That's cool, I get ( Read more... )

Doing very good :)

Writing, writing, writing and work at my new place. Store's still pretty much the same except for selling greeting cards now too, which is real attractive ;)

Good luck with your work honey!

When it comes to "Merlin", I ship Arthur/Gwen, Arthur/Morgana and Arthur/Merlin. So, if this bothers you, I will understand if you want to de-friend me. But I'm totally okay with you shipping whatever you want. :)

Nope. Doesn't bother me at all, sweetie! I don't get hung up on that stuff. People should ship who they want without putting down other ships or their fans. Lots of other multi-shippers on my list, and as long as people are respectful, I don't have a problem at all. It's when others start spewing hate and nonsense that bothers me. You're good. :)

*I should probably specify this in my entry*

I totally agree. For a change. And I love Arthur and Gwen too. Gwen totally owns Arthur.

We are usually in agreement! LOL I didn't know you shipped A/G! woohoo! I love them. But I also enjoy other characters on the show too.

:p I confess I haven't watched the show as much as I should, but when I do watch it I love it. I really like Merlin as a character, just watching him hiding his magic from Arthur is comical.

If you defriend me, I will totally hunt you down. Er, in a friendly way, of course. ;-)

It was a tiny bit jarring to notice that Chlarker friends had de-friended me. Something I happened to see this morning, though who knows when it happened. But I understand it. It was even more jarring to read someone's journal, and the ensuing Chlollie hate written in the comments. I don't care if people hate Chlollie. That's their prerogative, and right to voice their opinions. I just don't care to read it. And frankly I'm just so tired of fandom drama and crap, that I've decided to wrap my happy bubble around more firmly. No one knows better than Chloe fans how much this show can suck the joy out of us. I'm choosing to wear my blinders for awhile and be in a happy, oblivious place for now.

Thank you! I'm involved in fandom as a stress reliever, some bit of escapism. When it causes stress, it's time to leave it. I'm not saying that no one can have criticisms about how a show is written, or how characters are written or portrayed, or even intelligent debate/discussion. But when things start to feel like school-yard bickering, whining and complaining, and fans start putting characters or each other down needlessly, I'm out. That's not fun at all.

There was so much crap going on twitter last night, it's reaching ridiculous levels. That coupled with all the other things I see just had me wanting to leave fandom altogether. I don't want to leave it. I want to enjoy it. So the best way for me to do that is to ignore what I can.

I think you've got the right idea about who to follow and where to stay away from.
