My friend Stephen, a pre-med student at The College of West Anglia in U.K., is conducting a survey on the correlation between eating disorders and individuals who identify as transgender. It's a subject very close to his heart. His personal website has the details.

If they ask, just tell them something to the effect of "I wasn't lying or anything, I'm a dude."

Anyways, people generally go to cons knowing they'll meet people different from themselves, so I don't think it would be too much of a problem. You'd be surprised by how many people just don't care (it's not their body, after all.)

That's usually the essence of what I say, "I am a dude. Really."

This is only my second con, but yeah, they're really a unique and diverse atmosphere.

A different (not more correct, just different) perspective:

If you say "I wasn't lying," that's a defensive position. So is emphasizing amStepping back for a moment, is it really unreasonable for someone observing female physiology to think they might have been inadvertently using the wrong pronoun all this time (having only online interaction)? Or to simply realize (given the same physical evidence) that maybe you identify as either/both male/transgender ( ... )
