Year-End Book Reviews

I decided to mimic something others have done on LJ and actually write up some short (3 sentences or less in most cases) book reviews for all the books I read in 2007. Note: these reviews are not intended to be analytical in the least ---- just a broad picture of the book in most cases ( Read more... )

Heavens, that was a lot of vampire books!

I have to say that reading all the Thursday Next books in quick succession was a highlight of 2007, once I'd finally got round to investigating Jasper Fforde.

So glad you are now a Fforde fan -- when we were over this summer, I bought but haven't yet tried "The Fourth Bear." That one is not widely publicized or available here.

We received your nice card a couple of days ago -- thanks!

I re-read Sunshine this year and was left wishing there was a sequel - I really like the world she creates in that book.

I don't think I ever told you that I got round to reading Eclipse. I can't say that I didn't enjoy it - I did, but I was left feeling baffled. I just couldn't understand the whole being in love with two people thing - and yes, I think Edward was a saint, Bella was a whiny bitch, but for the first part of the book I could understand her wanting to recreate her friendship with Jacob, even though she knew he felt otherwise.

Oh, and I'm so glad we got to read DH together! That is one of the highlights of my year.

Yeah, I wish there was a sequel to that one as well. The ending was so open and I had hoped she would go forward with that one.

I also totally bought why Bella would try so hard to keep her friendship with Jacob; I just didn't buy the whole "oh, and I *was* in love with Jacob all along" thing. It came out of nowhere.

Reading DH with you and Neil was very special! I wish I could have stayed until Neil finished, but flying to Scotland the next morning made it hard to squeeze any more time in. I felt bad for poor Neil though when we kept gasping and asking each other questions in whispers.
