You said you didn't want to be thanked but I can't help it; I must. I have lived here in the cities since 1982 and my family is back in Royal Oak. I've made that long drive dozens of times with only the dog for company and I learned early on that the best way to stay focused was listening to books on tape. When I discovered fanfic those were the stories I wanted to listen to and they just weren't available.
Now I carry my stories with me and they keep me company wherever I go. They calm me on bumpy flights, soothe me to sleep in strange hotel rooms, distract me from the dentist's drill. That they are centrally archived and easy to find is just the best thing ever.
Now get some rest! I've also made that train trip and I feel for you.
Thank you for this! If/when my life returns to normal, I want to do more reading of stories -- I really, really enjoy it, and want to get better at it.
