Went and did the Marine Corps Mud Run on Saturday. Third time in four years. You get a team of four to go through a 4.2 mile obstacle course - up and down hills, through mud, up and down walls, ropes, cargo netting, phone poles, name it - if you 've seen it in the basic training part of any military film, it was probably in the course. You know, I find that how I feel is largely connected to my weight and my activity level. Couple years ago I was down to 210 pounds and ran the Cooper River Bridge Run (10k) in right around an hour. Felt pretty decent most of the time. But work and stress got in the way, I stopped working out and gained 20 pounds. Now I feel like crap most of the time - the work/stress induced high blood pressure isn't helping.

It does take me a little longer to get up...a little longer to recover from things...but if I get off my ass and lose the weight I'll feel better.

I can see that. I know that ever since I came to my current job I've struggled with trying to keep my weight from getting too out of hand and to keep at least some level of activity going on. I haven't developed the high blood pressure (yet), but I can also definitely relate to the stress part!

I know I'll feel better if I drop some more weight, too. I'd hope to get down to about 225 or so, which wouldn't be too bad for me. Hell, I haven't weighed that in longer than I care to think about!

It sounds like you are in shape but not accustom to such a grueling workout.....let me give you a great remedy. Go buy the store and buy a little chunk or organic ginger. Have you beautiful wife shred it and make a strong tea with it.....pour that into a tub of as water as you can stand, stew for 10-15 minutes....Then SHOWER with very cool water and go to sleep.....You will sweat perfusely in the tub and pull a ton of lactic acid out...with cool shower will counter-balance you heat and you'll be able to sleep......

You know, that sounds like good general therapy. The ginger steam might be good for my sinuses too - there's been something in the air the last week that is playing havoc on my sinuses. Thanks for the tip!
