haha--I know: once I got started, I wanted to transpose the entire mini-series into a low-achieving high school in California.

Ray will always be Ray! There was an early draft where I made him a fellow teacher, a la Poke, and then I came to my senses. Thanks for commenting!

This is perfect! The Marine Corps really does have a lot of parallels to public school, from the idealism to the lack of supplies. I can really see Brad and Nate (and Schwetje) doing this.

Thanks for your comment. I couldn't remember which officer-class character ended up with all the night optics while Bravo 2 was stuck stumbling around in the dark...but I decided to blame Schwetje for it. Pilloried in fandom: what a fate!
