I think this is the right audience for this...

It's times like these that I'm happy everyone on my friend's list is an author of verified skill (except one, who is in fact an author of verified skill in disguise). I have a bit of a conundrum in the area of my current original fiction work in progress. And it follows thusly ( Read more... )

Yeah, like Kaiba and his arrogance. Don't make his arrogance = confidence, but make it more of arrogance to the point of extreme egotism. Make him sarcastically stubborn, rude?

Or!

You can make him smell very, very bad. And have poor fashion sense.

Smell bad, eh? And make it a scratch-and-sniff novel?

Give him an annoying habit. Or have him give a demonstration of something he says on a person or animal--you know, systematically break a bird's wings as he gets excited about something. Of course, you have to have the right setting and such and some people might get perverse joy out of it, but it's an idea.

Hm, or have him repeat some dumb line. *coughIneedtosavetheworldcough*

Hmm, that demonstration thing is a really good idea. See, annoying habits are good for general distaste for a character, but it lacks the intensity I'm going for.

Ah, altruism is ever so annoying.

Ah, I understand what you mean. If you want any further input, let me know. Wracking my brain for stories is far better than wracking my brain for test material.

He could do a couple of things. Kill off minor/secondary characters, like a couple dozen villagers, because one of them irked him. Give him a servant or a pet that he's cruel to. Erm. Lack of creative juices makes me unhelpful here. I'll think about it more.

Mmm. Random killing is often misconstrued as cool, and the pet thing isn't IC for him, but you did give me a few ideas, so thanks.

Weird how that works. Glad you have ideas.
