Mid-day yesterday it was uncomfortably hot. Then in the late afternoon it cooled down and there was a little bit of a breeze. Another volunteer and I had just left the hot stuffy classroom we had been in all afternoon to head home. My friend took a bunch of pictures which I posted bellow, so it'll be like you were there too. It was interesting, I was excited to go, but once was enough for me. I just stayed for two fights. The weather is very nice here. I am in a village on a mountain over looking the capital. At night the view of the city is beautiful. The village I am in right now is very nice. The house I'm living in has electricity, running water, a heated shower, and I have a window in my room with a screen ( Read more... )

I´m alive and well. The adjustment, learning the language, etc. is kind of nerve recking. My host family is nice. The program (I´m purposely trying not to mention it´s name specifically or the name of the country where I am volunteering) I´m with does a good job at teaching and preparing us.

Since my flight cancelation my volunteering has consisted mainly of: hanging out and having fun with kids around my age (at a hotel for free and living off of a decently generous stipend). We went site seeing today ( Read more... )
