Lord, why am I in Japan? eibii April 2 2004, 23:52:45 UTC
Hmmm... did you get one of those funky little table-heater thingies? The name escapes me at the moment... a kotatsu? (Central heating never caught on in Japan for some reason, go figure...)

Congratulations on making it there ine one piece, and staying as one while remaining there, too. ;p I wondered.

Convenient word of the day -- 'hanami', a term for a cherry-blossom viewing party. Also a good word for 'gathering of drunken Japanese folk wandering around trees, stumbling and leering at gaijin (us wacky foreigners)', but don't tell anyone there that in public. ;)

Yeah, I have a kotatsu, but no plug for it! But, I do have a space heater that I thought was a air conditioner, and one of my fellow teachers showed me how to use it- so I`m good.

Maia, you silly! I can't kill you if you're in -Japan- and -already dead-!
So glad to see you posting, though. Makes me happy to hear what's going on. Much luck with the heater and life, and keep us updated!

I'm trying to think if I've known a trainer I've really liked in any job I've ever had. Good to see you getting kinda settled, though. You'll have to tell me if forced immersion is a really effective way of learning a language.

Oh, and for Tod: You know my intention's to go to Japan sometime later this year, right? Hunting her down wouldn't be all that hard...

She packed my bags last night, preflight
Zero hour; nine a.m.
And I'm gonna be high as a kite by then

Ack, that's your fault... and no, don't expect to understand why.

Do they let you bring wooden stakes onto airplanes these days, or is that an international security risk?

Well, the metal detectors don`t catch them...

What am I saying! This is my heart we`re talking about staking!

Maia, I didn't know you were going to Japan! Sounds rad. I'll salute you while I'm still here in New Zealand.
