Too much going on at once...

I am a bit overwhelmed since I last checked in with you all. I have been unable to return to work in the medical leave time that they have allotted me in order to recover. Since my catastrophic leave was never approved, I had no income coming in - insurance all dried up on me. Luckily my parents threw me a lifeline and I am currently still ( Read more... )

I've been starting to wonder if you were doing allright - now I know. Sounds like a necessary 'regrouping': best of luck. :)

It was a strategic retreat to a degree - mostly a means to an end where my parents expressed not only a desire to aid me but I wanted to spend as much useful life we all have together. They are no spring chickens - neither am I for that matter and want to spend the better parts of our relatively healthy lives together. I cannot believe that I have my immediate and extended family pulling together so much for me, it makes me feel like a celebrity and so thoroughly guilty at the same time. I just do not know which way to sort my feelings other than to thank everyone graciously and treat matters like I was a guest. However - there are certain limits; as I have expressed imminent domain on the area that constitutes my bedroom. Nobody, not even the cat may enter without permission. Oh, and if anyone was wondering, my pet kitty Brokk survived the trip well and is adjusting well to the new home. I made it here in one shot, the trip taking just 16 hours from start to finish and while tugging a 4300 LBS trailer over a 1000 miles. Eating on the road is a challenge, trying to adjust medicines and keeping close tabs on yourself so one does not pass out or go too terribly hypoglycemic. That is trouble behind the wheel!

As for being savvy with those items mentioned; I am just knowledgeable enough to be dangerous. I can certainly break a set-up anyway. :D Where I excel is in the hardware that runs those things. From massively parallel computational engines and supercomputers, to desk-side workstations - I can build and/or repair them. From SGI to Sun and all flavors in between. I will even reluctantly service Macintosh, but if they are still warrantied - pack it up and send it to a local Apple store or repair facility. I still have my two most important repair tools for Macintosh close at hand...

An 8" wide spackle blade...

... A #50 Gem paper clip, unbent. :D
