I read this really awesome journal entry about resolutions. The writer refrenced something he read that suggested instead of making a resolution you should look inside and find a word that inspired you to change what you wanted to change about yourself. I thought that was a great idea. heres the journal entry:
I chose "open" for those of you that might want to know. open to change, open to possibility, open to love, open to myself about what I need to do with my life, etc. It really felt right once I thought/meditated about it.
I think it's stupid to make one (or some) just to have 'em and say you did. As a ritual, I'm not a fan. That said, this year I was encouraged to do something very similar on the solstice, and when I really thought about it, I decided that there was something about how I'm looking at my life right now that might very well be getting in the way of me living it. So I'm working on that. And so far, it's going alright.
I did also set a goal for the year based on a conditional: If I can't make progress on one thing, I'm stepping up the time schedule for another.
I actually made a New Year Resolution, and stuck to it. I decided that I wasn't going to prolong it anymore, and decided to contact my biological father. It was a huge step for me because I've never met him before.
Resolution kept. Letter was mailed out on the 9th.

My resolutions are to travel more, re-learn a language, be more social, find a new job, etc.
