Epiphyllum Show 2009
Once again this year I was the semi-official photographer of the San Diego Epiphyllum Society's Mother's Day Show. Epiphyllums are hybrids of tropical cacti with big spectacular flowers. Ranunculus as Far as the Eye Can See
This past Sunday my brother and I drove north to the community of Carlsbad to photograph a locally renowned field of brightly colored Ranunculus in bloom. The fields are grown for the commercial cut flower industry but they have also become a popular attraction - even at 10 bucks a ticket. Flood in Fargo
My triplet sister, Joni, and the rest of the citizens of Fargo, ND are in a scary situation. Due to the rapid melting of snow and rains that have fallen over the past few days, the Red River of the North is expected to crest on Saturday, March 28 at 41 feet (23 feet above flood stage). Desert WIldflowers at Anza-Borrego
This year's spring wildflower season at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park paled in comparison to the fantastic spring of 2005. Still, there was just enough rain this winter to coax some flowers out for a couple of weekends. On Saturday, March 14, my brother and I drove out east to the park to see if we could make some decent images.

Blooming in Balboa Park - March 1

Fires in San Diego County - October 2007
Just after 3 AM on Tuesday I got up to look out my kitchen window and saw a red glow on the horizon to the southeast. Two huge wildfires are buring in San Diego County. The glow I was seeing was from the southern-most of the two blazes, dubbed the Harris fire. From my backyard I was able to get a few shots of Mt. San Miguel, a prominent high point ( Read more... )
