I just mean own yourself in that you love/are at peace with who you are and what you're capable of so that the acceptance/exclusion & love/dislike from others has less impact on you... or that they at least aren't as important as your own feelings. I'm not saying it's easy either but it is a helpful ideal to strive for. I just know we all are capable of sidelining our own feelings and even our own identities to some extent for the sake of others' (and our own) security.
SO, I guess you own yourself by: 1. Accepting yourself 2. Not hiding who you are 3. Not apologizing or excusing who you are 4. Depending less on others for validation/acceptance 5. Ultimately--Learning to truly love & believe in yourself
I struggle with this as much as anyone. It's not easy for everyone to achieve just because we know that it's healthy to love & believe in yourself without the necessity of others feeling the same way.
