Jesus, look at the fucking broads at the goddamn goth club, and that's on 5th and national. LOL Hey, one thing I'll say about that place, they've got some sharp-lookin' hotties in there.
Maybe the Zep were prisoners of Gwar at the time Mr. Plant penned those lyrics. Why must we nitpick apart this anthem o' the LARPers? Also, I wish I could remember the title, but there's a rap song by DMX that references the l.o.t.r. trilogy. So the musical influence of this dark and dreary land knows not cultural or genre-based bounds.
Plant was possibly trying to allude to the fact that Jimmy had stolen his woman. See, "Gollum" is actually Jimmy...and the reason the "girl so fair" is from Mordor...is simply because he was actually trying to say...
"you know what jimmy? you can keep that ugly, stupid bitch."
I'm not a Led Zeppelin fan, so I'll have to trust you on the lyrics....which are pretty danged awful, btw. Jethro Tull would've done a much better job. And finally.... Can't he pretty much get any chick in Mordor? Who's going to say "no?" I sure fucking wouldn't. Lemme get this straight. You'd do Sauron?
I have had a problem with that song since the day I learned what he was talking about. The worst part is that they went back to the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit well again, like "Misty Mountain Hop" in IV and I think there are some others. I tried to tell everyone back then that them boys in "zeppy" were dumber than shit to no avail, so I kept getting having to listen to them almost everywhere I went. The incessant LZ and Black Sabbath were the worst aspects of stoner culture 30 years ago.
There is no denying the guitar virtuosity but I was never of fan of Bob's screaming falsetto. My contention was/is that you can't listen to what is essentially idiot poetry on a constant basis without deleterious effects. Especially if you didn't think it was dumb or worse yet thought they were deep because you didn't get it.
