I was watching the ABC channel today in the morning and they had a program where they discuss poems. One of the poems they read and analysed took my fancy. I liked the poem 'In Westminister Abbey' as it seems to be a social commentary and satirical piece on people in general. hey hun I really enjoyed reading this piece it kinda made me question my own experiences where I had felt similar emotions explored in your poem. I stumbled across the poem 'Much Madness is Divinest Sense’ by Emily Dickinson (pg 669-70 in Schwiebert) and paralleled similar themes it had with the themes in the ‘Hairy Ape’ by Eugene O'Neill. They both explored the issue of conformity and the theme of what really means to belong. Dickinson reflected in her poem that being different is divine ( Read more... )
