[New handwriting today, and it's quite beautiful. Those who read the original Chinese characters might appreciate the skill behind the expert strokes: flawless calligraphy, itself poetry of sorts, yet not slow and cautious but decisive, the writing emerging complete and without hesitation. Though it has some troubling secondary meanings, still it seemed the most appropriate. Still, I thank you, Simon.

[Great formality. Peachblossom is familiar with a pseudoJapanese culture. It's not pseudoChina, but she sees it written in kanji and is vaguely pinged for people she knew in the Emperor's court.]

[She spends a while trying to think of how to respond, aware that she can't do it that prettily, and isn't sure how to go about being formal. She decides to write back in kanji. It doesn't look as nice in pen, but it's clear and even.]

You write so elegantly. The custom here is to be less formal, but people here can choose otherwise.

You flatter me. I have a trifling talent, perhaps; yet it behooves us to do our best, even when there is still much for us to learn.

Hey it's a new guy! Welcome, I think. That's what you're supposed to say, anyway, isn't it? ...er, though no offense meant by "guy" if you happen to be a beautiful young woman.

Alas, I am afraid that I am only young. And that, too, will not last very long. Still, I thank you.

Welcome to Edensphere, Huo. Though you express yourself most modestly, it is difficult to miss your admirable eloquence. If you wish to look for a job, vacancies are commonly posted in the Bazaar on the second floor. I hope you can find one to your liking.

That is most kind of you to say. Considering that in this marvelous method of communication, we have only our words for a face, one should I believe take care to wear one's face well.

I shall certainly search for it. My thanks.

It's rare to see writing like that. Most people don't even try.

It is understandable that folk, when concerned with passing on their thoughts or else conversing, should trouble themselves with the function and not the form. I merely enjoy the act of writing.

It is a pleasure to converse with you, Moon.

Feels like I'm used to this, somehow. It's a lot of formality.

I haven't exactly said anything pleasant, but go ahead and think it if you want to.

I shall confess that I find it difficult to express myself informally in this medium. Habit, perhaps.
