This was just so perfect. I've been wanting something like this for a while and you nailed it perfectly. I love the interactions and everything that is left unsaid and how much they've all grown. And how Fuji becomes everything that Tezuka always wanted him to want to be.
*grins* I do love the notion of Inui as a psychiatrist. He's certainly got his fellow players down to rights. And the emotional epiphany during the phonecall is perfect.
(I think Inui would be the shrink from hell, but in the good way. Either that, or he'd end up being the guy who somehow put together an empire of pseudo-scientific "health" foods and supplemental drinks, and the rest of the team would boggle at him. Possibly this empire would be partnered with Atobe Enterprises...)
(I knew from the start of the story that it couldn't end any other way; I love that image of Fuji on a tennis court, laughing at Echizen and at himself.)
