Bluish

until ventricles shake

I'm bleeding again
upon the page

Pumping again
out and over
with nothing to hold
the overflow

Panic feels cold
in fingertips
and on parted lips

And when the tremors
begin to fade
I can only hear the lovers say

"She's starting to turn
bluish"

This is very visceral (as well as visual) for me. The concept of the heart is apparent in the whole piece. Blue being one of my favourite colours - I didn't mind the use of "bluish" - it gave it a raw and real undertone.

Thank you! I sometimes get words stuck in my head for days on end. When I'm not actively writing, it'll drive me to distraction until I can find my way to getting something down on paper. I woke up in the middle of the night to write this one. It just wouldn't leave me be.
